“This is the beginning of giving other cities a taste of what we have”
Pushpinder Chowdhry, Festival Director 2017.
Since its conception Tongues on Fire (TOF) has devoted its life to showcasing South Asia through arts and independent film. With an 18-year history of producing the London Asian Film Festival, Tongues On Fire is about to embark on a new step in its evolution as a festival.
TOF is delighted to announce that we are expanding the festival’s reach to other cities throughout the UK. With audiences spanning across the country, TOF is excited to be bringing the finest selected independent Indian cinema to more doorsteps.
The expansion of Tongues on Fire will feature two new additions this year, in the form of the Leicester Asian Film Festival (LeAFF) and the Edinburgh Asian Film Festival (EAFF). Our new hosting cities will be screening a collection of London Asian Film Festival’s standout films from this year’s eclectic programme.
The first Leicester Asian Film Festival (LeAFF) will launch at the Phoenix, Leicester on 17-19 March 2017.
Following success last summer at its 1st edition, Edinburgh Asian Film Festival (EAFF) will return on 24th-26th March 2017, at Filmhouse Cinema, Edinburgh.
Festival director Pushpinder Chowdhry has stated that, TOF wants to reach audiences in places that rarely exhibit these important “made-to-be-seen” films. Like London, these vibrant cities have an appetite and audience for such cinema. It’s all about creating opportunities for deserving audiences.
We would love to hear from any other cities and venues who would be interested in delivering independent South Asian film to their local audiences. To get involved with our exciting venture, contact us at [email protected]
