Every year, we require a bank of volunteers to help make the festival a success. Volunteers are needed to assist in all areas of the London Asian Film Festival – from theatre entrances to tweeting. Of course, there are exciting benefits such as being among the first audiences to see UK premieres of the new independent films. But the real benefits of volunteering aren’t things, or even films – they’re the experiences. If you’re ready for a one-of-a-kind experience, apply to join us in London this March!
We will require volunteers for the following roles:
- Ticket distribution
- Looking after the celebrities
- Meet and greet at the door/check guest lists
The events will be:
- Film screenings
- Q&A Sessions
- Opening night screening and reception
- Closing night gala dinner and awards
All volunteers will need to make a certain level of commitment. Commitment may be a touchy subject, but we’re only asking for a few days in March.
Discuss Your Application
When we review your application, we will contact you so we can discuss if you might be a fit for Festival volunteer positions.
Receive a Specific Assignment
When a volunteer’s interest and the Festival’s needs fit, volunteers are offered an assignment, usually in January/February time. All details are discussed and agreed.
All the volunteer opportunities are London based, mostly around central London.
BFI: The Southbank Centre
Apollo Cinema: Piccadilly
The Nehru Centre: Mayfair
We are looking for people who are positive, energetic and willing to get involved in a very busy, high-pressure environment. Did we mention busy? You need to be able to work on your own initiative and be excited about being busy.
Along with maintaining our cool at all times with smiles on our faces and eye rolls only in the back office, we are responsible for coordinating travel, tickets and credentials for the invited guests, gathering information for Festival publications and wrangling guests once at the Festival.
Our volunteers at the Festival answer questions from bewildered filmmakers (knowledge of other languages is a helpful skill), deal with queries from the attendees and assist on-site at screenings.
If you would like to join our team, send us your cv and covering letter with details of your availability via e-mail ([email protected]), with what you would want out of your time at Tongues on Fire.
Please send in all applications by Friday 8th January 2016
